tl;dr We definitely need to get the word out to people who are buying new Pros to use ROTTR (Rise of the Tomb Raider) as a benchmark to test if you got a bad Pro or not.

Worth the extra cost, even for 1080p screens.

Just wanted to post this review to help out folks with LG 4K TV’s. So the same thing happened to me. Took my new Ps4 Pro out the box, installed my 2tb hard drive. I had everything plugged in and couldn’t see any picture even though I could hear sound. I tried checking the cables, nothing. So I looked it up online and discovered this was a common problem with those of us that own 4K LG uhdtv’s. What you need to do is hold the power button on the Ps4 Pro for about 8 seconds till you hear it beep twice. It should restart in safe mode, which should appear on screen. Find the option to switch resolution to 1080p, once you do that, you should be able to see a picture. So just go ahead and start up the ps4 pro in 1080p. Once you get to the ps4 pro’s main screen, go to settings, then display. Then go ahead and switch the resolution to 2160p. This worked for me.

It’s a little bulkier than I had imagined, and it’s a very weird parallelogram shape. it doesn’t have rubber on the side to help it stand up either, which makes me a little bit nervous to leave it standing. it also sticks out a bit because of the weird shaping and it has the back end sticking out a bit.

PS4 Slim vs. PS4 Pro Dilemma Solved, but YMMV

I owned two PS3’s since launch and waited on the PS4 till now and while I debated the PS4 Slim vs. the Pro, I made up my mine to spend the extra money and get the Pro, call it future proofing or with hopes Sony and Developers working on Coming Soon Titles like Day’s Gone, Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part 2 and Etc. will be visually and performance wise, better on the Pro, the trailers lead us to believe this will be the case, so time will tell?

A great upgrade for current owners and the only PS4 new buyers should get

If your buying a PS4 now, this is the only model to buy. It goes without saying that the PS4 Pro is the most capable console on the market right now and easily for the next year or so. The Pro has roughly double the processing and GPU performance of the standard PS4 and with many games offering free updates to take advantage of the more powerful hardware its the best option on the market. Having seen the updated games (Tomb Raider, Shadow of Mordor and Ratchet and Clank so far) I am very impressed with the extra power, from better resolution and anti aliasing (reduces hard edges) and cleaner textures on rocks, grass etc its certainly noticeable. With new games like Final Fantasy 15 also getting an update to take advantage of the Pro which will allow the game to play at 60FPS (at 1080p mind you) its great to see some scale able options to allow the gamer to select what they want.

Really happy with this purchase. Games look incredible on it so far and this is only the beginning since developers will start adding the better graphics for the Pro earlier in development and not just rushing to do it at the end.

Read before you buy!!

This is by far the best PlayStation yet, but i wish i would have known that my receiver was not compatible with the system. I have a Sony STR‑DN840 7.2 Channel AV Network Receiver that supports 4k, but unfortunately it was my A/V Receiver was the issue so I plugged the PS4 Pro directly into my projector and worked. i was getting the error of Not Supported HDCP: 1.4. 🙁 not great but made it work. other than that one major issue this system is fast and great.

This system is simply amazing. I noticed a good difference in the consoles speed and overall running capabilities. If you install a SSD with this console, you’ve got a top of the line gaming console as your games load insanely fast. I would recommend this to anyone.
