It was just a few weeks ago that I was bemoaning the fact that I did not scoop up an Echo back when they were being released last year. Not only could it be had at nearly half off the current price, but it came with a voice remote and we could have had a year longer using this amazing device…

IMPORTANT UPDATE (3/8/17): As you read my original review, please be aware that Amazon announced in early February (2017) a new firmware update that allows Amazon Tap owners to enable a hands-free option! By going into “Settings” in the Alexa app, you can now choose the hands-free option and have your Tap respond to voice commands without touching it, just like the Echo and Echo Dot! This is a fabulous development and something Tap owners have been hoping for. Thank you, Amazon!

Awesome Speaker! The mini Sonos type of speaker I have always wanted

The Amazon Tap is like having a mini SONOS speaker that can travel with you anywhere you go!! This was the first device that has built this much excitement for me when Amazon announced it.. I pre-ordered and it arrived early!! So did my CASE/Sleeve!! WOW what a GREAT Speaker! Amazon has a winner here!! Especially with it’s “Tap” and “WiFi” features! This is the speaker I have been waiting for, for years!!

I love all three amazon devices. Different ones for different things…

I have all three of the “Alexa” devices. The tap, the echo and the dot. They are all good for different things. I like the echo for my kitchen and living room (I got another one for my kitchen!) because I listen to music there often and like to ask questions, news, weather, etc. It seems to hear me best and the volume gets loud if I want it to. (although sometimes Alexa can’t hear you screaming her name over her own speaker when its loud!)

Very good speaker, no tap required

This is a great product especially if you have an Amazon Prime account. Pandora and Tune-in Radio also work very well. The speaker may not be a Bose but it is not far behind. (I have a Bose that cost over $200). There are two issues. Alexa doesn’t search Google and I would have liked an output jack like the Dot. The Google issue can be somewhat resolved by asking Alexa to search using Wikipedia if she can’t answer your question. You can pair this via Bluetooth but I have ceiling speakers in multiple rooms that I can access via a mini jack. It would have been nice to play the music over my existing setup. Note: My current receiver is not Bluetooth compatible.

Very Good.

This Amazon Tap now with Alexa enabled on it now is nice. I got it on the Father’s Day sale with the 5 months Amazon interest free payment plan. I am liking how Amazon is doing with there own products. I hope they will extend there payment plan to more stuff sold by and ship by Amazon? This way I can stay away from HSN and QVC. And spend more with Amazon lol.

Not usually an Early Adopter, but this was worth it.

I’m not really an early adopter of technology (mostly because I can’t afford it!) but for this I made an exception. We needed a speaker for our kitchen where we do the majority of our listening. I chose the Tap because we also wanted the convenience of being able to take the speaker wherever we wanted (backyard, basement, even my crappy car). I thought I would hate having to tap the button every time, but honestly it’s not that big a deal. The reality is that we’re usually listening to music or podcasts for long stretches. It WORKS GREAT! Sound quality is very good, even outside. Battery life is excellent. Build is solid. We’re discovering new uses for it every day. Love the ‘Flash Briefing’ and ability to set timers. I’ll probably end up buying one (or two) as Christmas presents for other family members.

Amazon updated the software, now it’s 5 stars.
