Amazon Tap is a portable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled speaker that gives you rich, full-range sound. When connected to Wi-Fi, just tap the microphone button and ask for music, hear news, search for information, order a pizza, and more with the Alexa Voice Service.
Tap = Alexa on the go!

It was just a few weeks ago that I was bemoaning the fact that I did not scoop up an Echo back when they were being released last year. Not only could it be had at nearly half off the current price, but it came with a voice remote and we could have had a year longer using this amazing device…

IMPORTANT UPDATE (3/8/17): As you read my original review, please be aware that Amazon announced in early February (2017) a new firmware update that allows Amazon Tap owners to enable a hands-free option! By going into “Settings” in the Alexa app, you can now choose the hands-free option and have your Tap respond to voice commands without touching it, just like the Echo and Echo Dot! This is a fabulous development and something Tap owners have been hoping for. Thank you, Amazon!
I love all three amazon devices. Different ones for different things…

I have all three of the “Alexa” devices. The tap, the echo and the dot. They are all good for different things. I like the echo for my kitchen and living room (I got another one for my kitchen!) because I listen to music there often and like to ask questions, news, weather, etc. It seems to hear me best and the volume gets loud if I want it to. (although sometimes Alexa can’t hear you screaming her name over her own speaker when its loud!)
Awesome Speaker! The mini Sonos type of speaker I have always wanted

The Amazon Tap is like having a mini SONOS speaker that can travel with you anywhere you go!! This was the first device that has built this much excitement for me when Amazon announced it.. I pre-ordered and it arrived early!! So did my CASE/Sleeve!! WOW what a GREAT Speaker! Amazon has a winner here!! Especially with it’s “Tap” and “WiFi” features! This is the speaker I have been waiting for, for years!!
Tap may not be for everyone but has a lot going for so many of us!!

Started with Echo Dots at home. Then I liked the idea of the battery-Bluetooth- speaker of the Tap. Now it travels between the office and home. While at home many times room to room. My Alexa enable programming follows me throughout the house. I’ll start the weekend with emails in the living room, then on to washing the morning dishes in the kitchen, and a brief run upstairs with the just finished laundry and I don’t miss the NPR story on weekend edition…It’s brilliant without having to wire or wireless link the whole the house. I am leaning more on it than the stationary Dots. The Dot’s have revolutionized the home stereo system with it’s AUX out plug feature. But that’s another review. In the meantime the Tap has less Dot features (drop in and call) and acts more like a “rechargeable portable Bluetooth Speaker” but the Alexa added the functionality knocks it out of the park
Not a bad sound for a smallish Alexa product. Obviously not as good a sound as I get from my Echo 2nd, but acceptable for me. Portability is the key here, and it is battery powered. Glad I got the new version that can be voice controlled, don’t have to push the button. Thought about getting one for a while now, but didn’t want to pay the asking price. The Black Friday deal got me. With $50.00 dollars off, it was too tempting to pass up.EDIT 12/12/17: I keep the Tap plugged in on my computer desk, in my bedroom, since it doesn’t take up much room. Last night it woke me up twice saying it was having trouble connecting to the internet and too correct the problem in the Alexa app. I shut it off and reconnected it to my router, through the Alexa app, in the morning. It’s working fine again, but I hope this is not going to be an ongoing problem. If it is I will have to send it back, although I don’t want to. At this time I’ve been using it, to play music while on the computer, for three weeks.
Great Gift For All Ages
We bought this for our 10 year old son for Christmas and he loves it. Initially we were planning on buying a simple bluetooth speaker, but after reading the reviews and the functionality of the tap, we decided it was a much than a speaker for a little more money. He absolutely loves it.,the sound quality of the speaker is excellent., and through the Alexa app it can be connected directly to WIFI so it doesn’t need to be paired to a phone or tablet to play music. The speaker is loud and provides sufficient bass for a speaker of its size.
